Robin This is some sexy old school death metal right here. Great production.
The songs are catchy, never boring and have that trademark rotten sound you all know and love.
I hope we will get a new album soon! Favorite track: Celestial Carnage.

Matthew Rukgaber Picked the slow song as my favorite, but much of the album is quite fast for old school DM. This album does everything right. A textbook example of genre excellence. Favorite track: Ungodly Forms.

about

An unholy matrimony of vicious brutality and colorful melody, REDEFINING DARKNESS RECORDS is proud to present the beautifully horrific monster that is SENTIENT HORROR.

Crafted with a keen eye for both the brutality and savagery of old school death metal and an ear for metal’s harmonious and melodic roots, “Ungodly Forms” twists, turns, molds, and deconstructs the listener on a lucid journey through the macabre and the magnificent. Translucent melodies show only enough life before allowing themselves to be devoured by punishing guitars and a crushing percussive nightmare. Progression and retrospection balance on a rotting carcass while the soundtrack to a war rages around. Do not make the mistake of being an innocent bystander.

Since 2015, SENTIENT HORROR has been churning out classic Old School Death Metal so authentic, it led Swedish mastermind Dan Swanö (ex-Edge of Sanity, ex-Bloodbath, Witherscape) to remark: "..One of the best SweDeath projects I have come across in 20 years. The perfect blend of all the highlights from the Swedish scene from 89 to 91. Truly awesome!" How surprising then, that SENTIENT HORROR hail not from Scandinavia but from northern New Jersey, USA.

The band was formed in 2014 by lead guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Matt Moliti (ex-Dark Empire). With the goal in mind to record death metal in the vein of the early 90s Stockholm scene, Matt self-released the three-song demo "Beyond the Curse of Death" under the band name Sentience. After receiving an extremely positive response from publications such as Decibel Magazine and No Clean Singing, Matt put together a lineup to perform live. From working as a music instructor, Matt knew he could find the perfect musicians for the job. Ian Jordan (bass) and Ryan Cardoza (drums) were both former students of his whom he had known and taught for years. Through a coworker he met Jon Lopez who would join on rhythm guitar. After a name change to SENTIENT HORROR and signing with REDEFINING DARKNESS RECORDS (N. America) & TESTIMONY RECORDS (Europe), they are ready to unleash their debut full length "Ungodly Forms" on the world!

"Ungodly Forms" was mixed by Damian Herring (Horrendous) and mastered by Dan Swanö. With an emphasis on great songwriting and musicianship, it is catchy without sacrificing brutality, highlighted by memorable riffs and blistering guitar solos. Although heavily rooted in the early 90s Stockholm scene, SENTIENT HORROR are not afraid to include other influences, particularly the progressive leanings of early Edge of Sanity and the dissonant harmonies of bands like Gorefest and Carcass.

We are excited to finally share their breed of old school death metal with the world! "Ungodly Forms" will be released in December 2016 via REDEFINING DARKNESS RECORDS (N. America) & TESTIMONY RECORDS (Europe).
